Overview
AirCleanChoice compares household air purifiers using published specifications: CADR, recommended room size, noise, filter type, filter replacement interval, power, and smart features. Rankings are sorted by CADR when that value is known. Affiliate commissions do not change rankings or which models appear.
Where specs come from
Each product is matched to an exact brand and model (and Amazon ASIN when present). Sources are preferred in this order:
- Manufacturer specification sheets and user manuals
- Official brand product pages
- Retailer listings, used only when they name the same model
Conflicting numbers are resolved by keeping the manufacturer value when it is specific to the same model variant. Fields we cannot verify are left blank rather than guessed.
CADR
CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) is the volume of filtered air delivered for a particle class, usually smoke, dust, or pollen, in cubic feet per minute. We display smoke CADR when available because it is the most commonly published AHAM figure. We do not invent CADR.
Room size vs marketing coverage
Brands often quote coverage at 1 air change per hour or other optimistic assumptions. That number is manufacturer claimed coverage.
When CADR is known, we also show a recommended room size using the
AHAM-style conversion CADR × 1.55 square feet (about 2 air changes per hour
in a room with an 8 ft ceiling). This is a planning estimate, not a performance guarantee.
Import validation rejects claimed coverage greater than 3× CADR and stores it only as a marketing claim. Rankings for large rooms use CADR (or the AHAM recommendation derived from it), never the marketing square-footage claim.
Noise
Noise is the lowest published dB(A) we can attribute to the same model, typically sleep or minimum fan speed. If sources disagree or the figure is not model-specific, the field is left blank.
Filters
Filter type (for example HEPA class) and replacement interval come from manufacturer documentation when possible. We do not invent annual filter cost or Amazon replacement prices.
Price policy
We do not publish Amazon-derived product prices, CADR-per-dollar, or Offer markup. Use “Check current price on Amazon” to open the current retail listing.
Affiliate relationships
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Those commissions do not alter rankings, scores, or which products are listed.
Why some fields are blank
A blank cell means we do not have a reliable, model-matched value. Common cases: CADR never published, coverage only given as marketing copy, noise quoted for a different variant, or a filter interval that varies by environment.
